Business recovery specialist nominated for Woman of the Year Award

Julie Palmer, regional managing partner for business rescue and recovery specialist Begbies Traynor in the South West and Wales, has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Julie, who heads up a network of 12 offices spanning from Southampton to Swansea, was put forward for the Business Magazine’s Women in Business 2014, Woman of the Year Award - Large Business, by Blake Morgan Restructuring and Insolvency.

The nomination comes during an exciting year for Julie, who has led a successful expansion drive by Begbies Traynor, opening new offices in Swindon, Oxford and Swansea.

Last year, her team scooped South West Regional Insolvency Practitioner Firm of the Year award in the national Insolvency and Rescue Awards.

Based in Salisbury, Julie oversees the smooth running of Begbies Traynor’s offices in: Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Oxford, Salisbury, Swindon, Cardiff and Swansea.

An Oxford law graduate, Julie has risen to the position of regional managing partner thanks to her steely determination, intellectual ability and close relationships with key influencers. She has successfully managed many high-profile insolvency and restructuring cases, including: successful sales of Bournemouth football club and Bristol rugby club, Shakeaway and Mostyns.

Additionally, Julie sits on the national council of R3 – the UK’s professional association of business recovery professionals, as well as working with a number of its policy groups.

The Women in Business 2014 Awards are to take place on September 11 at Oakley Hall, near Basingstoke.

The Woman of the Year - Large Business category is open to women directors and employees of organisations with a turnover exceeding £10m per annum who have achieved excellence in their field and have helped their business to achieve significant results.

Julie, who lives near Salisbury with husband Mark and nine-year-old daughter Polly, is up against five other finalists in the Woman of the Year Award – Large Business category.
